Let us tell you a tail…
…About tail lifts, that is. So, what exactly is a tail lift? In the words of our professionals here at Elite: “A tail lift is a mechanical device permanently installed on the rear of a work truck, van, or lorry, and is designed to facilitate the material handling of goods from ground level or a loading dock to the level of the vehicle bed, or vice versa.”
Lifting off!
What do we use tail lifts for?
Well, tail lift trucks are great for loading and unloading heavy items. We find that most of our customers use them for palletised goods, courier items, perishables, roll-cages, and furniture, but they can be used for loads of other things!
Many shapes and sizes
Our trucks can either have a column or rail lift, a cantilever lift, or a tuck away lift. Each lift is designed for a specific purpose. Some offer more lifting height ranges and others offer more easy handling and manoeuvring. But the one thing they have in common, is that they are all within an affordable price range! We’ve highlighted a few features of two of our most popular tail lifts:
Column (or rail) lifts:
- Fast and easy to put into operation (manual and hydraulic closure).
- Lots of lifting height options to choose from.
- Flat-level ride platform, ideal for roll-cages, carts, and top-heavy objects like gas bottles.
- Mounted to rear of truck body, no overhang or special requirements.
- Lifting above loading floor level is possible.
Cantilever tail lifts:
- Most popular, super versatile for a wide range of uses.
- Very fast to put into service.
- Possible to have very long platforms, which is great for loading or unloading multiple pallets, multiple cages, or large machinery.
- Relatively short overhang of 650 – 1150mm.
- Compatible with most truck bodies.
- Automatic tilt at ground level.
- Platform angle adjustable at all levels.
